Little Song

My love is like an elephant

its long tusks highly prized,

In mad ambition, it tramples valleys

and topples trees.

My love is a ninja

and a master of Zen

that will die for you, and kill,

and rake patterns in stones

you can see from space.

My love is a mountain in Australia,

and fresh oranges in Nepal.

My love is a rhinoceros

asleep in tall grasses,

a strand of dark hair and

swift fingers on white ivory.

My love is a breath, a whisper,

and the last moments before dawn

when the world is grey rain

and grey light, shuddering on the grass
